VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Carson Health, in supporting delivery of comprehensive health care to the community recruits, obtains and retains an adequate number of competent volunteers to augment the services of staff. We provide the opportunity for person from all segments of the community to become involved and to effectively utilize their time, skills, and expertise in helping others. Person from the community serve as a liaison, providing input to Carson Health as to community health care needs; and interpreting health care goals, and programs back to the community. Volunteer Services utilize all available resources and techniques for reaching and recruiting potential volunteers.

All Volunteer Services and Volunteer Service Organizations affiliates with Carson Health will function according to the guidelines established in the Volunteer Service Departments policies. It is the policy of Carson Health to encourage and promote its volunteer programs; to enhance patient care and comfort through traditional volunteer service. It is not the policy of Carson Hospital to fill regular employment positions with volunteers.

Auxiliary- The purpose of Carson Health Auxiliary is to promote good public relations within the Carson Health service area, to render service to Carson Health Network and it's patients, and to aid the officers and staff in whatever manner is deemed necessary to Carson Health Network's goals and objectives.

Baby Grand Piano Player- To provide music therapy that is conductive to a healing environment at Carson Health. Serves as an example of the mission and philosophy of Carson Health to all patients, visitors, and staff.

Courtesy Cart Driver- To provide shuttle service from the parking lots of Carson Hospital to the main Entrance and ER/OP entrance. The cart is for the convenience of visitors, patients, employees, and volunteers. All Courtesy Cart Drivers must be interviewed by the Volunteer Services Manager, and attend a general orientation. On the job training will be done by experienced Courtesy Cart Volunteers.

Front Lobby Greeter- Position to maintain patient flow and assist patients and family members as needed. Assist with newspaper and flower deliveries. Assist guests in the gift shop.

Student Volunteer- Student volunteers may assist with general duties under the guidance of an adult.

Transporter- Transport patient admissions to their room by wheelchair. Transport patients leaving their room by wheelchair to their car. Guide visitors to patient rooms and hospital offices. Greet Visitors entering the hospital. Provide warmth and individualized attention to patients and families. Assist transporting patients throughout the hospital.
